The Art of Eating Ice Cream

This is a picture of Louise when she was about 3 years old.  We had just been swimming and stopped for a nice ice cream on the way back.  I love the bright colours on her clothes and the serious look on her face as she demonstrates the art of catching the drips from the ice cream as they melt.

I die cut the flowers using my Cricut and the Cindy Loo cartridge.  I made some of these into dimensional flowers following the tutorial over on Such a Pretty Mess (scroll down and click the link on the blog list).  The bright colours of the photo and the papers I used made me feel really summery even though spring is only just on the doorstep.

Another Hiccup!!

Now I've lost my signature even though the html code is still in my formatting box for posts.  Hopefully this will be resolved quicker than the previous problem.  Do you ever get the feeling someone is trying to tell you something?

The 'Lady' of the House

Here's a layout I've just finished of our cat Smudge.  She is a very young cat to look at and still dashes around the place and jumps up on the sofas to be stroked.  Visitors find it hard to believe that she is 15 year old this year.

I bought the patterned paper, which was one sheet of the stamp images, ages ago from Kitty Krafts, my favourite local paper crafting shop and have been dying to use it.  Being squares naturally led to a grid-style layout and adding a couple of little embellishments were all that was needed.

This is the first grid layout I've done and without thinking, I placed the picture of Smudge in the middle which says exactly what it should, that she is important to us.  Have you ever finished a layout and then realised that your placement of pictures or elements has told a subconscious story?

I'M BACK !!!

YES.  I'm finally back.  I still can't remove the Photobucket button but I did at least get an immediate reply to my email for help.  They confirmed what I already knew which is the problem lies with Shabby Blogs who provided my original background.  Having sent several emails to them and not getting any reponse I gave up and thanks to Littleme at Crafts on the Net, I went to The Cutest Blog on the Block and pasted one of their lovely backgrounds.  I have also replaced most of the blog accessories from Shabby Blogs and will endeavour to replace the others, if I can.

So, down to business.  Of course Valentine's Day has passed but here are two cards I made.  The first was for the monthly card challenge at COtN.  It was a recipe card: use 3 hearts, 1 image, some ribbon, two sentiments and two background papers.

The second  card is the one I made Keith.  I inked a piece of brown parcel paper with my Crafty Individuals Script stamp and gold StazOn and matted this onto the white card.  Then I used my Cricut to cut the heart, key and sentiments.  I painted the key with Ranger Crackle Paint and then inked with gold StazOn.

Temporary Hiccup!!

As you can see my background has disappeared and I can't fix it just now.  I've emailed ShabbyBlogs where the background came from and hopefully they can sort this for me.  In the meantime I'm not going to post anything else because it's not easy to read the text.
Hope to be back properly in a few days.

The Latest Collection

Here it is.  The latest collection of ATCs from both swaps.  There are cards for Hallowe'en, Hangover Cures and Friendship.  If you want to take part in these swaps head over to Crafts on the Net (button on side bar) where this month's theme is lucky charms and Docrafts for the continuous friendship swap.

I'm also busy working on a card for this month's Challenge on CotN which has a valentine theme but is a recipe card. Not sure what that is? Go check it out.

I'm almost finished, just got to get one more sentiment.  The wording I want to use isn't on any of the Cricut cartridges I have, so I'm  going to settle down with a glass wine and my Gypsy to design the phrase.

Hangovers and Friendship

Here are the ATCs for December/January.  The two top cards are for the Crafts on the Net swap for which, in a half joking kind of way, I suggested the theme of Hangover Cures as this ran over both months.  I didn't really think the organiser Bren would use it but she did and it was quite a challenge to think of two cards for this theme.

Of course cake had to figure in there somewhere but it was sheer luck when I opened a magazine and found a picture of a women with an ice bag on her head. All I had to do then was just cut some blister packs open.  The bottom card was for the continuous Docrafts swap on Friendship.

Glitter Girls

I was off work for a couple of days recently and whilst lying on the sofa watching Create and Craft TV the Glitter Girls came on.  On impulse I fired up the laptop and sent an email into the show, not expecting it to be read out.  I wasn't disappointed - they didn't read it but then they had loads come in for that show.  However imagine my surprise when at the end of the programme they chose two emails from the cup of chance and yeah! mine was one of them.

A few days later my Glitter Girls card arrived, signed by Kath and Babs.  It had a beautiful paper insert, with gems and embossing and the colours are muted lavender.  Here it is.
