Stencil It with A Vintage Journey

Today I'm sharing an art journal entry for the current challenge at A VINTAGE JOURNEY  where the theme is 'Stencil It'.

I started by sponging pink chalk paint randomly over the white page, then using Distress Ink Seedless Preserve straight from the container to add the lines, almost like files.  Next I used a Tim Holtz Clock stencil and DI Dusty Concord on the top and the same stencil with white texture paste on the bottom.

The word 'Time' is stencilled using Imagination Crafts purple Sparkle Medium, outlined in black pen.  I typed the banner and aged with DI Vintage Photo and edged with Seedless Preserve, before rolling the ends. The flowers are cut using Cricut Flower Shoppe cartridge.

Artist Trading Cards

A quick post today to share my three partner swap cards for the UKATC August swap.

This is a free choice but all the cards must be different as they go to the same person.  So to start with a sewing-themed ATC, using Crafty Individuals' collage set and Distress Ink in Broken China and Black Soot.

I stamped the background first on white card, then stamped the whole set onto white card which had been sprayed with Glimmer Mist Spun Sugar, before cutting out the individual elements to collage.

For this one I used cream card, stamped with CI crackle background in DI Vintage Photo.  The tag is from a pack with the addition of raffia and the dragon fly embellishment.

Finally I tore watercolour paper and added white texture paste with Tim Holtz faded dots stencil, then dripped some Glimmer Mist in Walnut gold randomly over the top. The tag features a CI collage stamp on white card inked with DI Fired Brick.

A Shabby Heart

A nice change today as I share a piece of altered art, which I haven't done for ages.  As usual the original piece was found lurking in the wardrobe, discovered whilst tidying up in an attempt to make more space.

The pomander heart is made of clay and was uninspiring in it's original state as you can see.

I painted the front and back with gesso, then with a coat of white chalk paint before finally using a piece of sponge to swipe lilac chalk paint over the raised area of the flowers and the edge of the heart.

I picked out the fluted edge with white and added some pearls to the flowers.  Next I stitched along the edge of the cream lace, gathered it and glued it on the back edge.

The hanging charm is a pale pink Chinese cloisonné bag charm and now I have a pretty, shabby chic heart to decorate my bedroom.

For the Love of Nature

Today I'm sharing an art journal page for the theme of 'Nature's Wonders' at ART JOURNAL JOURNEY

I started by painting the page randomly with light brown acrylic paint, then brushed some gesso over the centre to give a lighter area for gluing. I dropped some Glimmer Mist in Walnut Gold onto the top of the page and let it run down, adding to the natural, rustic feel.

I used Distress Ink in Frayed Burlap for the stamped twigs from Inkylicious and Rusty Hinge for the owl which was stamped onto white card.  Before the ink was completely dry I used a damp wet wipe to smear the ink slightly giving the wise old owl some colour.

The large leaf skeleton is from a craft pack, which I sprayed lightly with Glimmer Mist in Walnut Gold so it would stand out more on the page.
